Block vs Mute on Whatsapp: What's the difference? 8 talking points

Facebook-owned properties like its namesake social network, Instagram as well as Whatsapp share a couple of features and one of the most popular one among them happens to be the disappearing 24-hour long Status posts. Users can customise the privacy settings for the Status they upload and while there is no direct way to download your Contact’s Status on Whatsapp, you could try a workaround that we’ve discussed below.

There is no direct way to download the Whatsapp statuses from the app, but as we all know that every app creates a data backup on the device and that’s also the case with Whatsapp..

If you want to download a Whatsapp status and wondering how can you do it, here is a guide to help you do that in a few simple steps.

Note that these steps would only work on Whatsapp for Android; if you’ve downloaded a modded version of Whatsapp like YoWhatsapp, you won’t be able to use this method to download Whatsapp Statuses.

  • In your device’s internal or external storage, scroll down and tap on the Whatsapp folder.
  • On the next screen, scroll down and tap on the Media folder.
  • Then you’ll see all the Whatsapp media folders on the next page. Tap on the Statuses folder.
  • All the statuses will appear on the next screen. You can view the files from there and copy or move it from the statuses folder to any other folder.

Note that Whatsapp removes and refreshes the status every 24 hours, both from the app and the folder on your device. So keep in mind that if you want to download any status, you do it within the time period of 24 hours from the time it was uploaded to the app.
