Facebook announced three new tools on Wednesday that’ll enable the users to manage their time on the social network and Instagram better.

The new tools include an activity dashboard, a daily reminder and a new way to limit notifications.

Facebook says it developed these tools based on collaboration study with leading mental health experts and organisations, academics, their own extensive research and feedback from the Facebook community.

These new tools are aimed to turn the time people spend on Facebook and Instagram to be intentional, positive and inspiring — helping people with increased control over the time they spend on the social media platforms.

How to access the new tools on Facebook?

To access the tools, you need to first head to the Settings page on the Facebook app then tap on Your Time on Facebook.

At the top of the screen, you’ll see the activity dashboard showing the average time that you use the app on the given device. You can tap on any bar to see the total time that you’ve used the app at any given day.

Below the activity dashboard, you’ll see two more options — Set Daily Reminder and Notification Settings.

Using the Daily Reminder, you can set an alert which will appear when you reach the amount of time you want to spend on the Facebook app for the given day.

Using the Notification Settings, you can mute push notifications from the Facebook app for a period of time ranging from 15 minutes to 8 hours.
