Blinking orange light: X fixes

Here are some of the fixes that you can try to fix the orange light issue with Firestick.

Pressing and holding the Home button

Restart your Fire TV device and after a minute or so try to pair your Fire TV remote by pressing and holding the Home button for about ten seconds.

This should always be your first try. If this doesn’t work, then proceed to other methods that we have mentioned below.

Factory reset Firestick remote

Factory reset is a sure-shot way to fix almost all problems with your Firestick remote.

  • Press the Back button, Menu button and the Left Navigation Circle button simultaneously and then wait for a minute.
  • Remove the batteries of the remote and unplug the Fire TV device from the TV and power source.
  • Then reconnect the Fire TV device back to the TV and power source and wait for the Fire TV menu to show up. After that insert the batteries into the remote.
  • At the Fire TV menu, you will have to press and hold the Home button for about forty seconds to reconnect the remote.

Check the distance between the Firestick remote and other electrical appliances

Make sure that there is enough distance between the Firestick remote and other electrical appliances so that there are no interferences.

Quick battery check of your Firestick remote

Check the AAA batteries of your remote and if they are not working, change them, While changing the batteries make sure that the positive end of the battery is in an upward position.

Distance between remote and Fire TV device

There should be at least a distance of three metres or ten feet between the remote and the Fire TV device.

The remote is connected to multiple Fire TV devices

Also, ensure that your remote is not connected to some other Fire TV device. If it is connected to more than one device, try disconnecting the remote first.

Number of devices paired with Fire TV

Check how many devices are paired with Fire TV. If it is more than seven, disconnect one of the devices and then pair the remote.

Turn off VPN or Firewall

A VPN or Firewall installed on your router might be interfering with the Firestick device denying it access to the Wifi. You can disable the VPN or Firewall and then try to reconnect the Firestick device to the network.

Use the Firestick Remote app

You can download the app from the Android or Apple Store and then follow the instructions to pair the remote to the device.

Check for software updates

To check for software updates for the Firestick devices go to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for System Update.

To update Fire TV remote, select Controllers and Bluetooth devices > Amazon Fire TV Remotes > select your device from the list and then install the update. Press and hold the Home button for about ten seconds and you will see the orange light flashing. This means that the remote is in discovery mode. Just make sure that the remote and Fire TV device is near one other.

If all of the above fails, you can always contact customer support for further information and help to fix Firestick remote blinking orange.
