Below we have mentioned a few possible reasons that might be causing the Firestick remote volume not working issue.
- The remote’s batteries are dead.
- Firestick is in the wrong HDMI port.
- The remote and TV box isn’t paired properly or connected to another TV box.
- Wrong Audio settings.
How to fix the issue?
If you are unable to use the Firestick remote volume then we have explained a few ways that might help you resolve the issue.
Check the Batteries
The first and most obvious step in fixing your Firestick remote volume is to check the batteries. Make sure they are inserted correctly, and that they are not depleted. A quick way to check if the batteries are the issue is to replace them with a fresh set and see if the Firestick remote volume starts working again.
Plug Firestick HDMI-CEC port
Incorrectly connecting your FireStick to an HDMI port may cause issues with the functionality of your remote, including problems with volume and other buttons. To avoid this, it is important to connect your FireStick to the correct HDMI-CEC port, which allows your remote to configure the TV’s functions for remote control.
Usually, the HDMI-CEC port is clearly labelled on the back of your TV, but if you are unsure, you can refer to the operating manual for instructions. If you find that you have connected your FireStick to the wrong port, simply switch it to the correct one and test the volume buttons to ensure they are functioning properly.
Re-pair the remote
It is possible that somehow your remote got unpaired or some other issues with the pairing are causing problems with the Firestick remote functions. To unpair the remote go to Settings> Controllers & Bluetooth Devices> Amazon Fire TV Remotes, then select the Firestick remote from the list and lastly Press and hold the Menu and Back buttons simultaneously for about 10 to 15 seconds.
To pair it again follow the steps below. Plug the Firestick in the HDMI port and switch it on, after the Firestick reboots press and hold the Home button for about ten seconds.
Change the Audio settings
It is possible that you are unable to use the Firestick remote volume because you haven’t enabled the correct audio control settings. To change your Audio control settings go to Settings> Equipment Control> Mange Equipment. If you can’t see your speakers in the list then select the Add Equipment.
Reset the Firestick
If none of the above fixes works, you can try resetting the Firestick to its default settings. This will erase all your settings and preferences, so make sure to back up any important data first. To reset the Firestick, go to Settings> My Fire TV> Reset to Factory Defaults.
