Onimusha: Warlords

While the game isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing, especially compared to some other entries on this list, it’s the first part in the Onimusha trilogy and served as a direct inspiration for Ghost of Tsushima. Both the games follow a samurai’s story through historic Japanese time periods. Onimusha is overall a more direct and puzzle-driven game, but it’s quite the experience and will introduce you to the Onimusha trilogy.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

If playing the character of a Samurai is what you liked about Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro is definitely going to scratch that itch. The game plays completely differently and once the world opens up after you’ve defeated the first few enemies, the game is just as large, expansive and beautiful as Ghost of Tsushima

Red Dead Redemption 2

If you want to explore the Wild West instead, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the most detailed cowboy video game you’ll find anywhere. From taking care of your horse to maintaining your own health, the game has so much to do apart from the main storyline which in itself is quite big and throws you in the desert plains with your horse. The game can sometimes be overwhelming, but the attention to detail and excellent mechanics will keep you engaged.

The Assassin’s Creed series is one of the most popular video game franchises on the planet. Starting off in 2007 with the original Assassin’s Creed, the series has delivered exceptional games including the Ezio trilogy, Origins, Valhalla and the upcoming Mirage.

If you want to run around in an open world while doing Parkour and slash your enemies, all while playing through a somewhat accurate historical storyline, this is the game for you.
