How to fix the issue?

If your Honeywell thermostat is not working then we have mentioned a few fixes below that might help you resolve the issue.

Check the Furnace or Heating system

The thermostat might not be working because there might be some problem with the furnace, check for the following things.

  • Ensure that the breaker to the furnace is turned on, it is located in your home’s circuit.
  • Ensure that the furnace is turned on, the power switch for the furnace is usually located next to the furnace.
  • Ensure that the furnace is closed properly because some systems will not power up until the cover is fully closed.
  • Most of the furnaces have lights that show that there is some error, the light will flash or blink rapidly. Contact the furnace manufacturer if you see any error codes.

Check the Thermostat wiring

To check the wiring of the thermostat remove the face plate and if you have only one wire connected to the either R terminal or Rc terminal then change it to the R terminal and ensure that the connecter between 2 terminals which is also known as the jumper is installed between the R and Rc terminals.

For thermostats with separate O/b and W terminals

Ensure that there is only one wire connected to either W or O/b terminal. If you have a heat pump then change the wire from the W terminal to the W2 terminal.

For the non-heat pump systems

The W terminal controls the heating in gas or oil furnaces or boilers, so make sure that a wire is connected to the W terminal for these systems.
