Arguably one of the largest online payments platforms, Paypal offers its services in several languages worldwide and transaction in several currencies
If you want to change the primary currency on Paypal or want to add additional currencies for receiving payments on Paypal, here is how to do the same in a few simple steps.
Once you’ve changed your currency on Paypal, the total balance of your account (in case you’ve multiple currencies added) will be shown in the primary currency. The primary currency is also used by default whenever you send or receive payments on Paypal.

How to change the currency on Paypal?
Login to your Paypal account and follow the steps mentioned below to change the primary currency of your account.
Step 1: From the options at the top of the page, select Payment Methods.
Step 2: On the next page, click on the triple-dot (meatball menu) icon besides the currency that you want to make your primary payment method. From the dropdown list, click on Make primary.
Step 3: On the confirmation pop-up page, click on the Set as Primary button to change your currency on Paypal.
If you have added the wrong currency, you can remove it by selecting Close currency option from the dropdown menu (refer to the screenshot above).
If you haven’t added a currency to Paypal yet, follow the guide below to add an alternate currency to your account and then change it to the primary currency.

How to add a new currency to your Paypal account?
Once you’ve added a new currency, if you don’t want to change it to your primary currency on Paypal, you can also use it to only receive payments made to you in that particular currency. These payments in the additional currency will be stored in a separate balance account.
In such a case, the primary currency will only be used when you send or request payments.
Follow the steps mentioned below to add a new currency to your Paypal account.
Step 1: From the options at the top of the page, select Payment Methods.
Step 2: On the next page, click on the Add a currency link below your Paypal account balance.
Step 3: From the list of currencies available, select your preferred one and then click on the Add a Currency button at the bottom of the page.
Step 4: On the confirmation page, click on the Done button.
You’ll see that the currency has been added on the Payments Methods page of your Paypal account. You can follow the guide above to change your Paypal currency.
