How to convert Google Slides to PowerPoint?

Converting Google Slides presentation to PowerPoint is easy and requires just a few moments. The two platforms are widely used for creating, customising, and managing slides while offering some unique features to their customers.

Both platforms have some advantages and disadvantages that call for switching from one to another. For example, you may want to use some special PowerPoint features or share your presentation with someone without access to Google Slides.

Method 1: Saving the file in .pptx format

The first and easiest method to convert Google Slides to PowerPoint is by saving it as a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation file.

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Open Google Slides and then head to File > Download > Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx)

Step 2: Give a name to the file and click on Save.

When you open the file, it will automatically open in PowerPoint.

Method 2: Convert Google Slides to PowerPoint in Google Drive

If you have already uploaded the Google Slides presentation to Google Drive, it is easy to convert it from there, too.

Just open Google Drive and locate the presentation file. After that, click on the download button, and you will see a Converting to PowerPoint message displayed on the bottom left of your screen. After this, name your file, set the location, and click Save.

What changes will occur on your Google Slides after converting it to PowerPoint?

You may be wondering if there will be any changes to the Google Slides presentation once you open it in PowerPoint or not. The answer is yes; your presentation may be affected slightly.

  • The fonts used by Google Slides will be affected. You may have to choose another font or download that font from the internet.
  • The hyperlink colours may change.
  • If you have rotated some images, they will revert to their original form in PowerPoint. So, recheck them and make the appropriate changes.
