Finding the serial number on a Chromebook

Below we have explained a few ways that will help you find the serial number of a Chromebook.

Through packaging or sticker on your Chromebook

There are multiple ways to find the serial number of your Chromebook. The easiest way is to look for a sticker on the bottom of your device or on the original box. The serial number is usually listed next to the letters S/N.

Through system details

To find the serial number through system details press the Search button on your keyboard and type chrome://system and hit Enter.

You will see all the system information, scroll down and look for the serial number under the vpd_2.0 category.

What information you can get from the Serial number?

The serial number of a Chromebook contains valuable information such as its components, manufacturing details, warranty coverage, repair history, and ownership verification. It serves as a key to accessing these important data points about your device.

Difference between Model number and Serial number

The model number of your Chromebook tells you what type of device it is, while the serial number is specific to your individual device. If you’re not sure whether you’re looking at the model number or the serial number, you can try copying and pasting it into a search engine. If it’s the model number, the search results will be related to your laptop, but if it’s the serial number, the search results will be unrelated and random.
