Minecraft is one of the most popular action-adventure games ever released and is still going strong despite being over a decade old. Randomly generated infinite maps and thousands of items to craft can be quite the handful, and that’s exactly why players keep playing the game for so long.
In this article, we’re talking about how to make night vision potions in Minecraft, including its three variations.

Making night vision potions in Minecraft
Potions are edible items that are used in Minecraft to give players special abilities for a temporary duration. In this case, as the name suggests, drinking the potion will give you night vision for three minutes. This can be extremely useful when you’re exploring the nether or are underwater.
Regardless, crafting the potion requires some preparation. Here’s everything you need.
- 1 x Crafting Table
- 1 x Brewing Stand
- 1 x Blaze Powder
- 1 x Water Bottle
- 1 x Nether Wart
- 1 x Golden Carrot
For potion variations, you’ll need either of these three items.
- Redstone (for extending the potion’s effect to eight minutes)
- Gunpowder (to make Splash Potion of Night Vision)
- Dragon’s Breath (to make Lingering Potion of Night Vision)
Once you have everything you need for the potion, walk up to your crafting table and let’s get to work.
Step 1: First, we’re going to use the crafting table to craft a browsing stand by placing one Blaze Rod and three Cobblestons in the pattern shown below. Once crafted, place the stand on the ground and interact with it to start brewing potions.
Step 2: Add Blaze Powder to the top left box to activate the brewing stand.
Step 3: Add a Water Bottle to one of the three slots at the bottom of the brewing menu. You can add more Water Bottles to empty slots to make more potions at the same time.
Step 4: Add the Nether Wart to the top slot of the brewing menu and wait for the process to complete. When done, you’ll have a bottle of Awkward Potion.
Step 5: Now add the Golden Carrot to the top slot of the brewing menu and wait for the potion to finish brewing.
You can either choose to move the potion to your inventory at this time or add Redstone, Gunpower or Dragon’s Breath to create potion variations as explained above.
