Chromebooks are well-known for being simple and efficient, so they’re a top choice for work, school, and fun. One handy feature many users may not know is that you can record your screen directly on your Chromebook. Recording your screen on a Chromebook is a handy feature that can be useful for creating tutorials, sharing your gameplay, or even troubleshooting technical issues.

In this article, we have discussed how to record the screen on a Chromebook with and without audio in a few simple and easy steps.

How to record the screen on Chromebook?

If you want to record the screen of your Chromebook, then follow the steps below.

Step 1: Click on the Clock on the Chromebook shelf, and then in the menu, click on the Screen Capture icon. If you don’t see the screen capture icon, expand the menu by clicking on the Arrowhead in the top right corner.

To open the screen record, you can also use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Ctrl + Show Windows keys.

Step 2: The Screen capture toolbar will appear at the bottom of your Chromebook’s screen. In the toolbar, click on the Video icon.

Step 3: If you want to record without audio, then skip to step 5, and if you do. To record the screen with audio, click on the Settings icon in the toolbar and then in the menu, click on the Microphone option in the Audio input section.

Step 4: In the same menu, you can check where your screen recordings will be saved; you can also change the location to save the files.

Step 5: Now, three different options are available to record the Chromebook screen; full screen, partial screen and specific window. You can choose from the options as per your needs.

  • Full Screen: Click anywhere on the screen, and the recording will begin.
  • Partial screen: To record a specific part of the screen, drag to select the area you want to capture, and then click on the Record button.
  • Specific Window: If you only want to record a specific window or part of the screen, click on it to start recording.

Step 6: A red recording button will appear on the taskbar when you start recording. To stop the screen recording, click on it.
