Spotify, the leading music streaming platform, offers an extensive library of songs, playlists, and recommendations to cater to every musical taste. While personalised suggestions can help discover new tracks, some users prefer to curate their playlists without interfering with suggested songs.
In this article, we have discussed three methods that will help you stop Spotify from playing suggested songs.
Below we have discussed:
Why does Spotify play random suggested songs?
There are a few reasons that Spotify is playing random suggested songs while playing the music from the playlist:
- If your playlist has fewer than 15 songs, Spotify might assume you have trouble finding tracks matching your preferences. To help, it suggests songs for you.

How to stop Spotify from playing suggested songs?
Here are three ways to help you fix the issue:
Add more songs to your playlist
If you get suggested songs from the official Spotify and your playlist has less than 15 songs, fixing the issue is easy. Just add some more songs until your playlist has more than 15 tracks.
Disable Smart Shuffle
Smart shuffle enhances your playlist listening experience by offering personalised recommendations with suggested songs queued to your playlist.
Unfortunately, you must be a premium user to disable this feature and use the normal shuffle or play-in-order feature. Here are the steps:

- Open the Spotify app on your device, tap on the Library tab at the bottom of the screen and then tap on the playlist to open it.
- Tap on the Shuffle icon.
- A few options will appear at the bottom of the screen: tap on Play in order or Shuffle.
Disable the Autoplay feature
The Autoplay feature also starts playing similar songs when songs end in your playlist; disabling it will help you. Here are the steps to disable the Autoplay feature:

- Open the Spotify app on your device and tap on your Profile icon available at the top left corner of the screen.
- Tap on Settings and Privacy option.
- Now, scroll down and turn the toggle off beside Autoplay similar content available under the Playback section.
