How to turn off emergency SOS on Android?

An emergency SOS feature in Android allows you to immediately contact the emergency services like the fire department, health services, and police, among others.

You can activate an emergency SOS call by pressing the power button repeatedly about five times. This functionality is beneficial if you’re travelling alone anywhere or in general.

However, the problem arises when you accidentally call the emergency SOS number. It can happen due to many reasons, such as:

  • You are performing other functions using the power button, like taking a screenshot or restarting your phone.
  • Sometimes, the emergency SOS calls can be triggered by your phone falling on a rough surface.
  • If your house has a child, they may press the power button repeatedly, thereby starting an emergency SOS call.

Turn off emergency SOS on Android

Here are the steps to turn off emergency SOS on Android:

  • Open Settings and then tap on Safety and emergency.
  • In the Safety and emergency settings, tap on Emergency SOS.
  • Next, turn off the toggle in front of Call emergency services.

Note: The emergency services number is different for different countries. For example, in India, the emergency service number is 112. You must check with your country’s government for the helpline number.

Once you have turned off the emergency SOS on Android, remember to turn it back on by following the steps we provided above. Once you have tapped Emergency SOS, tap Turn on Emergency SOS.
