How to unsend a reaction on Instagram?

Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms of our time and has several ways users can share their lives online with their friends and followers.

In addition to just posting regular photos and videos, users can also post stories that disappear after 24 hours and reels. One interesting bit about stories is that you can quickly send emoji reactions to a story that you’re watching by either swiping up from the bottom or tapping the chatbox that lets you reply to stories.

In this article, we’re looking at how you can unsend a reaction to Instagram stories.

Unsend Instagram reactions

Instagram has quick reactions to each story, including laughing, shocked, love eyes, crying, clapping hands, fire, party popper, and a hundred points emoji. These emojis allow users to quickly react to a story without formulating an entire message.

As soon as you tap on any of these emojis, they’ll instantly be sent as a reaction to whatever story you were watching. However, since story reactions are sent as direct messages, you can unsend them just like you would unsend a regular message on Instagram DMs.

Follow these steps to unsend a story reaction.

How to unsend a reaction on instagram?
  • Open the chat, tap and hold the reaction message.
  • Tap Unsend.

Your story reaction will now be unsent. Do keep in mind that while the recipient will not get any notification of you unsend your reaction, they will be notified immediately of your reaction, so there’s a chance that they might see it before you’re able to unsend your message if you’re not fast enough.
