How to fix it?

Here are six methods that might help you resolve the issues with the Jio SMS:

Balance and network

Ensure you have sufficient balance for sending SMS and a stable network connection. Look for a strong signal bar on your phone. A quick recharge or moving to a better network area can solve the problem.

Restart your phone

A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches that might interfere with SMS functionality. Power off your phone, wait for a few seconds and then turn it back on. Try sending a test SMS after the restart.

Verify Message Centre Number

Ensure the SMS Message Centre Number or Service Centre Number stored in your device is current. This number is crucial because it directs your text messages to their intended recipients. If your phone’s message centre number field is empty, your text messages won’t go through. For Android devices, the steps might vary slightly depending on the manufacturer. You can usually update this setting in the SMS Settings menu on your device. Here’s how to check it:

  • Open the Messages app on your phone and tap on the Profile icon at the top right corner of the screen.
  • Tap on the Messages settings option.
  • If your phone has dual SIM, it will ask you to choose the SIM; choose Jio. You will see the SIM settings if you have a single SIM.
  • Tap on the SMSC to update it. The correct message centre number for Jio is usually +917010075009.

Check for a specific number issue

If you’re only facing problems sending or receiving SMS to a specific number, the issue might lie with that particular number or their network operator. Try contacting the recipient to see if they’re experiencing similar issues.

Try a different phone

If none of the above solutions work, insert your Jio SIM card into a different phone and try sending/receiving SMS. This will help isolate the problem. If SMS works on the other phone, it suggests an issue with your primary phone. If the issue persists, it might be a problem with your Jio SIM card.
