3D designing and VFX programs have become far more complicated and powerful for complete beginners to working with, despite their user-friendly UIs. With multiple programs required for different tasks, keeping them all updated and bug-free is a bit of a task.ย
This is where the Maxon app comes in, much like Adobe’s Creative Cloud Desktop, it keeps track of all the Maxon programs installed on your system, checks their licenses and even updates them automatically. However, the app may not always work, and we’re going over solutions to help you fix that.
What causes this error?
The Maxon app can stop working because of a number of different reasons including but not limited to:
- Improper or corrupt installation.
- Missing system files.
- The app doesn’t have administrator privileges.
- Outdated app version.

How to fix this?
Here are four fixes you can try out.
Run the Maxon app with admin privileges
The first thing you should do in such cases is to try and run the problematic program with administrative privileges. Since the Maxon app deals with tracking other programs and their authentication as well as license validation, it also needs to run with the highest privileges possible.

Look for updates
Next up, check to see if there are any updates available for the Maxon app. More often than not developers are aware of any bugs or glitch their app is facing and keep releasing updates to patch said issues. In case you haven’t updated your Maxon app for quite a while, check for an update and if one is available, install it right away. Alternatively, you can just download the latest version from Maxon’s official website.ย
Reset app configurations
Resetting the app configurations is also a quick troubleshooting method that should fix the problem. Just make sure you’ve closed any editing programs, open the Maxon app, click the hamburger menu in the top right followed by Reset Configuration and then Reset.
It’ll take a second for the app to clear all the changes and revert back to factory settings, but when it does, it should work just fine. Do keep in mind that resetting the Maxon app will log you out and remove your plugins.
Reinstall
If nothing else works, your best bet is to reinstall the Maxon app from scratch to see if that solves your problem.
Step 1: Press the Windows key + X to open the Quick Access menu and click on Apps & Features.
Step 2: Find the Maxon app in this list and click on Uninstall.
Once the program has been removed, restart your PC, reinstall the Maxon app and try launching it again.
