Apps make up the core of any consumer device’s user interface and iOS apps do just that on the iPhone and iPad. However, having a huge number of apps can make your iPhone’s home screen crowded and make it tougher for you to find apps when you need them.
If you want to organise the apps and icons on your iPhone, but can’t find your way around it, here we’ve explained how to move your app icons on any iOS device in a few easy steps.
Note that, the steps are a bit different for devices running iOS 13 and newer version as compared to devices running older versions.

Moving app icons on your iPhone and iPad
Swipe to your iPhone or iPad’s home screen where you want to re-organise the app icons and follow the steps mentioned below.
- Press and hold the app icon that you want to move.
- A bunch of options will appear, which although are different depending on the app you’ve selected but one option remains common — Edit Home Screen, which appears at the bottom of the list.
- Tap on Edit Home Screen and all of the app icons on your iPhone or iPad’s home screen will start shaking.
- Now, to move any app, press it and drag and drop it inside a folder or to any other screen.
You can create a folder by dropping the selected app on top of another that you want to include in the folder.
To move an app icon to a new screen on your iPhone, drag it to the right edge of your home screen to the extreme right.
