Make sure you have a strong and stable Wi-Fi or cellular signal. You can test your connection speed by using a website like speedtest.net or an app like Ookla Speedtest.

If your connection is slow or unstable, try moving closer to your router, switching to a different Wi-Fi network, or restarting your router and modem.

Update your device’s software

Make sure you have the latest version of your device’s operating system and the Nest app. You can check for updates by going to your device’s settings and looking for the software update option.

You can also check for updates by opening the Nest app and tapping on the menu icon in the top left corner, then tapping on Settings > About > Check for updates.

To update the Android OS, go to Settings > System > Check for updates.

To update iOS, navigate to General > Software Update > Download and Install.

Check the Nest Service status

Before troubleshooting further, make sure the Nest Service is operational by visiting the official Google Nest Service Status page.

Charge your device’s battery or turn off power-saving mode

If your device’s battery is low or in power-saving mode, it might affect the performance of the Nest app. You can charge your device’s battery by plugging it into a power outlet or using a wireless charger.

You can also turn off the power-saving mode by going to your device’s settings and looking for the battery or power option.

Free up some storage space

If your device’s storage is full or corrupted, it might cause the Nest app to crash or freeze. You can free up some storage space by deleting some unnecessary files, apps, photos, videos, or music from your device.

Clear the cache and data

A cluttered or corrupted Nest cache can lead to several issues including Nest not working one. So, you should make it a habit of clearing the cache once in a while.

To clear the Nest cache, head to Settings > Apps > Nest > Storage and cache > Clear storage and Clear cache.
