Proton unveiled four new features for its Proton Mail for Business plan, designed to improve efficiency and privacy for businesses while maintaining strong end-to-end encryption. These features include a new availability tool in Proton Calendar, custom business branding, a week view in Proton Calendar for iOS, and event summary integration between Proton Mail and Calendar.

With the inclusion of these four tools, Proton’s total number of feature upgrades for its Proton Mail for Business users since the start of 2024 has risen to fifteen. These updates include hide-my-email aliases integration, bulk actions, and expanded calendar capabilities on mobile devices.

A notable addition is the availability tool integrated into Proton Calendar, which is accessible on both web and desktop platforms. This tool allows users to check colleagues’ availability within the organisation before scheduling meetings, reducing the time spent coordinating schedules.

Proton Mail for Business users can benefit from improved integration between Proton Calendar and Proton Mail, including event summary integration directly within the inbox. This integration enables users to view calendar invitations and access Proton Calendar for availability checks or to accept invitations without leaving the email interface.

The iOS version of Proton Calendar also introduced a ‘week view’ to provide users with a comprehensive overview of their weekly schedule, enhancing time management.

Another notable feature is Custom Business Branding, which allows companies to personalise the Proton Mail web interface with branding elements, such as logos. This customisation option enhances the professional appearance of company email accounts, aligning them with the organisation’s brand identity.

“Proton has spent years bringing privacy to the masses, and now we are extending the same protections to businesses while adding tools and services that make it easier for them to be more productive and efficient,” Anant Vijay Singh, product lead at Proton Mail told Candid.Technology.

After launching the Proton Mail desktop app for Windows and Mac in beta in December 2023, the company finally released the app in March. Keeping its focus on privacy, the company launched a Dark Web Monitoring tool for Proton Mail subscribers.

In November 2023, Proton Pass announced the incorporation of the Proton Sentinel program, which can detect suspicious account takeovers using AI and human intelligence. Additionally, in October of the same year, the company introduced a new Secure Password Sharing feature for its password manager, Proton Pass.
