Truecaller is a caller identification app developed in Scandanavia in the year 2009. The application provides several services apart from caller identification such as flash messaging, call recording and even call blocking.

The app is owned by Stockholm-based True Software Scandinavia AB and developed by Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam. It essentially uses mobile network services for caller identification and other functions.

The latest Truecaller update (v12.6.6 on Android at the time of writing) has added a bunch of functionality, including video caller ID, voice-based call announcer, a new, redesigned interface, and enhancements to the call recording feature, making it quite simple to enable and use. The app offers several premium services for free with the latest update.

However, the call recording feature is only available on the Android version of the app. The iOS version, still at v11.43.12 only adds improvements to the in-app search and the ability to toggle caller ID.

How to enable call recording in Truecaller?

Open the app and follow the steps mentioned below to record a call in Truecaller at the tap of a button. Before proceeding, make sure you have a stable network connection to use Truecaller’s caller identification services properly.

• Tap on the three horizontal bars (hamburger) icon on the top left corner.
• Now, scroll down and tap on the Call recordings option.

• Enable the Call recording setting slider. Make sure you give the required permissions.
• Now, you can start by granting the call recording and other permissions required on the Truecaller app.

How to record a call in Truecaller?

Once Truecaller has the required permissions, you’ll be able to start or stop call recordings from your phone’s native call menu (refer to the screenshot below).

Tap on the Rec button when calling someone, and Truecaller will start recording the call. Press the stop button when you want the call recording to end.
