Spotify for Podcasters is out of beta: How to add and claim a Podcast?

Spotify for Podcasters is out of beta, which means now Podcasters will be able to claim their uploaded work and get access to the analytics dashboard.

Podcasters will be able to access engagement and demographics data for their podcasts such as average listening time, the number of episode streams, and the number of total listeners.

The podcast data will be updated daily. So, when users add a new podcast, its data will start showing up from the next day. Podcasters will be able to download their data in a CSV file.

“With so many podcasts out there, it’s more important than ever that you have the data you need to help you understand and grow your audience. That’s exactly what your dashboard is designed to provide,” Spotify’s announcement states.

How to claim a Podcast on Spotify?

  • Submit a link to your podcast’s RSS feed
  • Your email ID linked with the RSS feed will receive a mail with an 8-digit verification code
  • Paste in the box provided at the time in your Spotify account page and submit

How to add a Podcast on Spotify?

Podcast creators who wish to join Spotify for Podcasters can click here and follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Submit a link to your podcast’s RSS feed
  • Add the language and category of the Podcast, as well as the country of its origin and hit submit

Podcasters can also follow the dedicated Spotify Twitter account for them @forpodcasters.

Listeners vs Followers

The number of listeners indicates the unique users that listened to your podcast while followers indicate the number of those listeners that Followed your podcast on Spotify. The latter will be notified about new episodes upon release.

Starts vs Streams

Starts are the number of times Spotify users started listening to the podcast, There is no specified time limit before a ‘start’ is counted. Streams, on the other hand, are calculated once the listener has been playing the podcast for a minute.
