Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms around the moment. However, since its launch in 2004, the platform has seen significant competition from rivals such as Snapchat. This means that there’s a constant battle to add new features and stay relevant to users.
Facebook, much like its rivals, has a story feature allowing users to post content that automatically gets deleted after 24 hours. In this article, we’re going over how you can view someone’s story anonymously.

How to view a Facebook story anonymously?
At the moment, there’s no way to see Facebook stories anonymously. However, you can use the following methods to get around this restriction.
Use the Airplane Mode
Facebook uses your data to load the stories in the background before viewing them. You can use this method by turning off your mobile data, WiFi or switching on the Airplane Mode on your device after the stories have loaded to view them anonymously.
Swipe through the story
Facebook does not put on the viewers’ list if you only swipe through the story halfway. You can use this method to peek into the story without fully bringing it into the viewport and hence not getting your profile on the viewers’ list.
Temporarily deactivate your account
Another thing you can do is deactivate your account after watching the story. This will prevent your name from showing up on the viewers’ list as your account wouldn’t be available for the duration of the story being posted. Once 24 hours have passed, you can reactivate your account and start using the platform as usual.
How to view a public story anonymously?
Public stories are accessible to everyone on Facebook. Once again, while there is no way of viewing these anonymously, you can watch these with a fake account to prevent your main account from being exposed.
