  • 4 min read

Zelle is one of the most popular digital payment apps in the US that enables users to send and receive money from their bank accounts instantly using just their email address or phone number. It launched in 2017 and is backed by a consortium of banks including the Bank of America, BB&T, Capital One, JPMorgan Chat, PNC Bank, Wells Fargo and the US Bank, all of which suggest that their customers use the app for digital payments and transactions.

However, as is the case with any popular service, Zelle can also experience issues from time to time. In this article, we’re talking about why your Wells Fargo Zelle app isn’t working and what you can do to fix the problem.

Why isn’t your Wells Fargo Zelle app working?

There are a number of reasons why your Zelle app might not work. Some common causes include:

  • Internet connectivity issues.
  • Outdated app version.
  • Zelle servers are down.

How to fix issues with the Wells Fargo Zelle app?

Here are five fixes you can try out.

Check your internet

When you see an error like this, you should first check if you’re connected to the internet. If you’re on WiFi, make sure you have a stable signal and an active internet connection.

If you’re on mobile data, check to see if it’s enabled and that you have good network coverage. Alternatively, you can also try switching to mobile data from WiFi. Sometimes the error is triggered when users try to make payments over a WiFi network instead of mobile data.

Try again in some time

Often the error is just a temporary glitch caused on Zelle’s end and has nothing to do with your device. Try waiting for some time before retrying the payment and the transaction should go through just fine. You can check Zelle’s official Twitter account for server status updates or refer to third-party sites like Downdetector.

Clear the cache

Clearing the app’s cache can eliminate any corrupt files or data that might interfere with the app’s functionality.

Reinstall the app

If clearing the cache doesn’t work, you can also try to uninstall the app from your phone and remove any residual data that might be left behind. Once done, reinstall the app again from the respective app store.

Contact Zelle support

If nothing else works, your best bet is to reach out to Zelle support to figure out what is the exact cause behind the error. The customer support team will be able to pinpoint the exact issue and fix it for you if possible. Alternatively, the app might be facing an outage and you might have to wait until the error is resolved on Zelle’s end.
