Where are fonts stored in Windows 11?

If you’re a Windows 11 user, you may wonder where the fonts are stored in the OS. Fonts are the essence of any presentation, text, email or website. Authors can express their emotions and messages via the fonts. Some fonts convey informal feelings to the audience, while others are more suitable for formal settings.

In this article, we’ll explain how to locate fonts in Windows 11 and access fonts via three quick ways: the File Explorer, Control Panel or Shell commands.


Location of fonts in Windows 11

All fonts related to Windows 11 are stored in the Font folder of the C drive. Here is the address of this folder: C:\Windows\Fonts.

If you’ve installed Windows on a different drive, replace the C drive with the letter of that particular drive.

How to access the Fonts folder in Windows 11?

There are a few ways to navigate to the Fonts folder in Windows 11 if you want to see where the fonts are stored.

Traditional method: Using File Explorer

This is perhaps the easiest method of navigating to any folder in Windows OS:

Step 1: Open File Explorer by pressing the Windows key + E. Or, type File Explorer in the taskbar search bar.

Step 2: Now, enter the following address in the address bar at the top: C:\Windows\Fonts


Using Control Panel

Another way to access the Fonts folder is via the Contol Panel. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Open the Control Panel by typing ‘control panel’ in the toolbox search box and then selecting the app.

Step 2: Next, type Fonts in the Control Panel search box on the top-right of the window and then click on the Fonts folder.


Using Shell command

The third method of accessing the Fonts folder is via the shell command. Open the Run dialogue box by pressing the Windows key + R and then enter shell:fonts.

Press OK to navigate directly to the Fonts folder.

In conclusion, fonts are stored in the Fonts folder in the drive where you have installed Windows 11. Normally, it is the C drive. However, sometimes the drive may change.
