Slack has over 10 million active users and new ones are joining every day as the company grows. If you’re new to the platform and are just figuring out your way around customising the company’s workspace, or just aren’t able to find the option to do so, here we’ve put together a short and easy guide to help you add custom emojis to Slack as well as to add an alias for an existing emoji.
Note that this can only be done by the Workspace admin. In case, you’ve some ideas, share them with your Workspace admins. If you’re a Workspace admin, follow the guide below to add an emoji to Slack.

How to add emoji to Slack?
Log in to your Slack channel and follow the steps mentioned below.
Step 1: Click on the Slack Workspace name at the top-left of the page and then click on Customise Slack from the drop-down menu.Step 2: On the next page, click on Add custom emoji.
Step 3: On the pop-up tab, first upload an image and then give your new custom emoji a name. Once you’re done, click on the Save button and the new emoji will be added to your Slack workspace. Once that’s done, the custom emoji will be available to all the members of your Slack workspace.How to add an alias to emoji on Slack?
Log in to your Slack channel and follow the steps mentioned below.
Step 1: Click on the Slack Workspace name at the top-left of the page and then click on Customise Slack from the drop-down menu.Step 2: On the next page, click on Add Alias.Step 3: On the pop-up tab, first choose an emoji from the ones already present on your Slack channel and then enter a new alias for that emoji. Once you’re done, click on the Save button and the new emoji alias will be visible throughout your Slack workspace.
These new emoji aliases do not overwrite the original ones, but will rather appear beside the original ones.
