Apple unveiled the third-generation Airpods at the ‘Unleashed’ event on Monday, which features spatial and lossless audio support, longer battery life and a better design.

The 3rd-gen Airpods will be available for $179, with pre-orders starting today and delivering starting on October 26 — also the day they’ll be available in retail stores.

The new Airpods boasts six hours of listening time on a single charge, with a total of 30 hours of listening time with the charging case, which now also features Magsafe wireless charging.

The new addition to the Airpods lineup comes with an IPX4 rating for the earbuds and the charging case, offering both sweat and water resistance. The new design provides a more ergonomic fit and directs the music into the ear more accurately. Coupled with the adaptive EQ tech that customises sound frequency — offered on Airpods Pro and Max — and Spatial audio, the new Airpods deliver powerful bass and crisp high notes,

The 3rd-generation Airpods also feature the AAC-ELD speech codec to deliver a more natural voice during Facetime calls.

People using Airpods with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 will also experience dynamic head tracking, alongwith spatial audio, during group Facetime calls.

Now with the addition of the 3rd-gen Airpods for $179, the Airpods lineup now starts with the 2nd-gen Airpods at $129. The Airpods Pro now also come with Magsafe charging case for $249. The Airpods Max retail at $549.

“We are excited to introduce the next generation of AirPods, featuring unrivaled sound through Adaptive EQ and spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, along with seamless interaction between Apple devices — making the world’s best-selling headphones even better,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

Apple also introduced a new $4.99 per month Voice plan for Apple Music, which brings a catalogue of 90 million songs and tens of thousands of playlists, including the new customised playlists for moods and activities, personalised mixes by Siri and Apple Music Radio.
