Apple unveiled the third-generation Airpods at the ‘Unleashed’ event on Monday, which features spatial and lossless audio support, longer battery life and a better design.
The 3rd-gen Airpods will be available for $179, with pre-orders starting today and delivering starting on October 26 — also the day they’ll be available in retail stores.
The new Airpods boasts six hours of listening time on a single charge, with a total of 30 hours of listening time with the charging case, which now also features Magsafe wireless charging.
The new addition to the Airpods lineup comes with an IPX4 rating for the earbuds and the charging case, offering both sweat and water resistance. The new design provides a more ergonomic fit and directs the music into the ear more accurately. The 3rd-generation Airpods also feature the AAC-ELD speech codec to deliver a more natural voice during Facetime calls.
People using Airpods with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 will also experience dynamic head tracking, alongwith spatial audio, during group Facetime calls.
Now with the addition of the 3rd-gen Airpods for $179, the Airpods lineup now starts with the 2nd-gen Airpods at $129. The Airpods Pro now also come with Magsafe charging case for $249. The Airpods Max retail at $549.
