Often while editing a picture, you’ll realise that you need to blur out a particular part of your photo. It can be someone’s face, a license plate or just a simple sign.
In this article, we’re going to take a look at how you can blur particular regions of your image.
Blurring regions in Photoshop
Step 1:Â As always fire up Photoshop and load the image you want to edit. I’m going to use this photo of myself, and I’ll be blurring out my face here.
Step 2: Apply all your edits first. Blurring should preferably be done at the end.
Step 3: Select the region you want to blur. You can use any one the selection tools for the job. In this case, I’m going to use the Elliptical marquee tool. Make sure your selection is slightly bigger than the region you want to blur for the best results.
Step 4:Â Let’s add a feather to our selection to ensure that the blur blends in nicely with the image. It isn’t mandatory, but it’ll give you a more polished result. Right-click on your selection and select Feather.
Step 5: Enter a suitable feather radius. I’m going to pick 20 pixels; your mileage may vary. Click OK when done.
Step 6:Â Now, it’s time to add the blur. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.
Step 7:Â Select the amount of blur you would like by adjusting the radius, and you’re good to go. Click OK when you’re done.
