Android as we know it is built on top of hundreds of small background processes that keep running behind the scenes to give us the experience we’ve come to know.

However, a lot of users won’t precisely understand what each process does. This article looks at com Android settings intelligence and tells you everything you need to know.

What is this service?

Com.Android.settings.intelligence is a hidden background service on Android that lets you open essential apps and settings, including but not limited to the WiFi, camera, and default app configurations, among other things.

It’s essentially a part of the com.Android.settings package, which controls a majority of your phone’s settings. Apart from managing settings, it also controls and lets you switch between different profiles on your Android.

Is it malware?

It’s not uncommon for threat actors to use legitimate service names from hidden background services on Android to hide their malware in plain sight. However, com.Android.settings.intelligence is a legitimate system package, and you don’t need to worry about it if you see it in your apps list.

How to fix issues with com.Android.settings.intelligence?

Just because it’s a system service doesn’t mean it can’t run into problems. Try out the following settings if you’re experiencing problems with the ‘com android settings intelligence’ package crashing or not working as expected.

Restart your phone

The first thing you should do is also the simplest. Restart your phone. Restarting, be it your smartphone, PC or router, can fix several seemingly random problems that may or may not have any explicit reasons.

Wipe the recovery cache

Clearing your phone’s system cache partition can also come in handy in such situations. This will eliminate any corrupt or damaged files in the phone’s cache that may be causing problems with Android or any underlying processes and throw the error.

Every manufacturer has a different method for entering the bootloader to clear the system cache partition, so you will have to refer to your phone’s manual here. However, most phones use a combination of the power and volume down keys held together for 10-15 seconds to launch the bootloader.

Reset app preferences

Another thing that can help restore this process is resetting app preferences. Here’s how.

  • Tap on See all apps.
  • Tap on the three vertical dots in the top-right.
  • Tap on Reset app preferences.

Restart your phone, and the process should be trouble-free.
