Slack channels are a great way to keep the conversation going in groups in your Slack Workplace but if you don’t need a channel anymore, you can either archive it, which will remove all the members while deactivating the channel but keeping all of the conversations and files accessible or you can delete it to get rid of the channel as well as all of its content.
If you wish to keep files and conversations shared on a channel but don’t want that channel to appear to other members in your Slack workplace and don’t want it to be active anymore, you can archive the channel instead of deleting it altogether.
Unlike a deleted channel, an archived one can be retrieved back by unarchiving it, though all the members of that channel will be removed upon archival and you’ll have to add them back once you bring it back from the archives.
In this article, we’re going to explain how you can delete a slack channel as well as how you can archive it without losing all the data.
