EA makes some of the best games on the planet, including the leading sports series such as FIFA, NBA, and Madden, among other popular titles. The company’s PC gaming platform, Origin, supports this, meaning that you need an EA account to play any of these games.

That said, if and when you feel like you’re done with EA’s games, you can delete your EA account rather quickly as well. In this article, we’re taking you through the exact steps you need to follow to delete your EA account.

Deleting vs Deactivating your account

EA gives users the option of both deleting and deactivating their accounts. As you’d expect, deactivating your account keeps the account in EA’s systems and your progress as well as library is retained. However, you won’t be able to use your account until you reactivate it manually.

As far as deletion is concerned, deleting your account will remove your progress, and you will lose access to any purchased games. You also won’t be able to use any linked platform accounts on another EA account. Another thing to keep in mind is that banned EA accounts cannot be deleted. You’ll have to appeal your ban first if you want to delete your account.

Here are all the major differences between deleting and deactivating your account.

Deactivating EA accountDeleting EA account
You can’t log in or play games with a deactivated account.Any access to games, subscriptions, entitlements and in-game purchases associated with your account will be lost.
Any platform accounts (Xbox Gamertag or PlayStation Network ID) will remain linked to the EA account. You’ll not be able to use any connected platform accounts on another account.
Answers HQ posts and usernames will still be visible. You just won’t be able to make new posts or edit existing ones. Any EA games downloaded or purchased on Steam or Epic Games Store won’t work.
You’ll still be subscribed to any transaction or marketing emails you opted for. Your EA forums accounts will be deleted. If you’ve made any posts, either the account name or the post itself will be deleted.
Deactivated accounts can be activated at any time, subject to ownership verification. Any terms of service violations that may be associated with your games or account will remain.

Deleting your mobile EA account is also the same. You will lose access to all games, any progress you’ve made, in-game purchases and subscriptions. The deletion is also irreversible, and while EA may retain some account information to meet legal or regulatory requirements, none of the data it stores can be used to restore your account.
