Basic troubleshooting methods

Here are some steps that you should take to make sure the problem is not from your side:

Check for scheduled maintenance

The EPFO website undergoes occasional maintenance. Before troubleshooting, visit the official EPFO website and look for a maintenance notification on the homepage. If maintenance is ongoing, wait until it’s complete.

Check your internet connection

The first step is to ensure that your internet connection is stable and working correctly. Try accessing other websites to verify whether the issue is specific to the EPFO site or broader.

Refresh the page

If the EPFO website is slow to load or unresponsive, try refreshing the page. A simple refresh can sometimes resolve temporary glitches and allow you to access the site.

Try accessing the site later

If the EPFO website is down due to maintenance or technical issues, it may be inaccessible temporarily. In such cases, wait for some time and try reaccessing the site later. EPFO often notifies users in advance about scheduled maintenance activities through official channels.

Clear browser cache and cookies

Sometimes, cached data or cookies stored in your browser may cause conflicts and prevent the EPFO site from loading correctly. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies and then try accessing the site again.

Use another browser

If clearing the cache and cookies doesn’t resolve the issue, try accessing the EPFO site using a different web browser. Sometimes, compatibility issues with specific browsers can affect website functionality.

Alternate ways to check EPF

If the website remains inaccessible, consider these alternate methods to access your EPF information:

Use UMANG app

Download the UMANG app, a government initiative offering various citizen services. Within the app, you can access the EPFO section using your UAN (Universal Account Number) and view your EPF passbook. Here’s how to do it:

  • Type EPFO in the search bar and tap on the Search button.
  • Select View Passbook from the list of services.
  • Enter your UAN number and OTP and submit the request.
  • Select member ID and download ePassbook.

Use SMS service

If your UAN is linked to your mobile number, you can send an SMS with the text EPFOHO UAN ENG to 7738299899. You’ll receive an SMS with your latest contribution and PF balance details.

Use missed call service

You can also give a missed call from your UAN registered mobile number to 9966044425. This service retrieves your most recent contribution details. Ensure your Aadhaar and PAN are seeded with your UAN.

Contact EPFO

If none of the above solutions work, you can directly contact the EPFO:

Contact EPFO helpdesk

If you’ve tried all the above steps and still can’t access the website, it’s time to ask for help. EPFO has dedicated helpline numbers and email support to assist users with queries. Note down the helpline number or email address and contact them to report the issue.

Visit the nearest EPFO office

If your matter is urgent or if online services are inaccessible for an extended period, consider visiting the nearest EPFO office. They will assist you with your concerns and provide the necessary guidance.
