How to refund a game in Steam?
You can only refund games on Steam that you’ve purchased in the past 14 days and have played for less than two hours. The playtime includes online, offline or shared library playtime. Now while these are the general guidelines and to an extent ensure a refund, according to Valve, you can submit a refund request if you fall outside of these parameters too.
To refund a game in Steam, you’ll need to follow the steps in the guide above or go to help.steampowered.com (login to your account on their website first) and then follow the steps mentioned below.
Step 1: From your recent transactions (shown in Step 2 above), click on the game you would want to refund. Then on game’s page, click on the I would like a refund option.
Step 2: Then on the next page, select I’d like to request a refund.
Step 3: Then fill in the required details including where you would like the refund (bank account or Steam wallet) and why you’re requesting a refund. Once you’re done, click on the Submit Request button at the bottom.
Once you’ve completed the process and the refund has been improved by Valve, it can take up to seven days for the refund to reflect in your bank account.
If you request a refund within 24 hours of purchasing the game, most likely it won’t show in your bank statement as the original transaction stands cancelled in such cases. Also, cancelled payment sums can take up to 10 days to reflect back in your bank account.
