Amazon’s Fire TV Stick is a handy little device that can turn any standard TV or even monitor with HDMI ports for that matter into a smart TV and lets you stream content from the internet, including famous platforms such as Netflix and Youtube.

However, just like every other piece of tech, it suffers from the occasional bugs and glitches from time to time. In this article, we’re taking a look at why is your Fire Stick remote blinking orange and how you can fix the issue.

What causes the Fire stick remote blinking orange issue?

If the indicator light on your remote is blinking orange, it suggests your remote is in discovery mode and is waiting to be paired with a Fire TV Stick. This is a rather common occurrence and can happen because of a number of reasons.

  • Remote not yet paired.
  • Dead or low batteries.
  • Too many bluetooth devices paired to your TV.
  • Remote is too far from the Fire TV Stick.
  • Interference from other appliances.

How to fix the Fire stick remote blinking orange issue?

Try out these solutions to fix the Fire stick remote blinking orange issue.

Factory reset the remote

You can factory reset your remote to force it to connect to a Fire TV stick by following these steps.

Step 1: Press and hold down the Back, Menu and Left Navigation Circle button for at least 10 seconds.

Step 2: Wait for 60 seconds for the remote to reset.

Step 3: Now unplug your Fire TV Stick and wait a minute before reconnecting the device.

Step 4: Press and hold the Home button for 40 seconds to re-establish the connection.

Avoid interference

Other electronic appliances including your TV itself can sometimes interfere with the connection between the Fire TV Stick and the remote. Ensure that the Firestick isn’t in contact with any other appliances and there is some space between the TV and the stick and try again.

Check the range

The remote’s range is about three meters or 10 feet. Make sure you’re in this range from your Firestick when trying to establish a connection between the two.

Check the connections

Now might also be a good time to check all connections between the Fire TV Stick and the TV as well as between the power adaptor to ensure that the device is getting power, turning on and is actually able to connect to the remote.

Check the batteries

Low battery levels can also cause an orange light on your remote. Try replacing them with new AAA batteries to see if that resolves the Fire stick remote blinking orange issue.

Bluetooth devices

A lot of TVs these days come with Bluetooth. If you’ve got seven or more Bluetooth devices paired to your TV at the same time, you might want to remove a few as they can cause disruptions with the remote causing it to disconnect.

Multiple Fire TV devices

Similar to Bluetooth, the issue can be caused by multiple Fire TV devices in your house. Turn all of them off and try setting them up again one at a time to get rid of this situation.

Check for updates

Outdated or buggy software can also cause issues with the Firestick remote. Check to see if you’ve got any updates and install them to see if that resolves the Fire stick remote blinking orange error.
