The Amazon Firestick turns any regular TV into a smart entertainment hub. A key component of this experience is the Firestick remote, a small yet powerful device that allows you to navigate through your favourite shows, movies, and apps.

This guide discusses the functions of each button on your Firestick remote to help you make the most out of your streaming experience.

On older remotes, you’ll find a button with a microphone symbol. However, a blue Alexa button has replaced this in newer models. To use Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant, press the Microphone or the Alexa button on your Fire Stick remote. Keep the button pressed while you ask your question or give a command. When you’re finished speaking, let go of the button.

The large round button on your Fire Stick remote serves as a directional pad. To move right, press the right side of the circle, and for left, press the left side. Likewise, the upper and lower sections allow you to move up and down like arrow keys on a keyboard.

Moreover, the right and left navigation buttons can control video or music playback. Press them once while watching to skip forward or rewind by 10 seconds. If you press and hold these buttons, you’ll fast forward or rewind rapidly.
