Google is adding another capability to its Smart Home assistant that will enable it to assist users in ensuring that their house is secure with 24/7 monitoring, remote locking and more.
Google has collaborated with several security brands to launch new devices that can work with its Assistant.
“Empty homes are more vulnerable to being burglarised, and it’s important to have a system in place that can monitor, alert and deter crime while you’re away. That’s where the Google Assistant can step in and help you keep an eye on everything at home,” writes Michele Turner. Director, Smart Home Ecosystem at Google.

Monitor your house 24/7
Google Assistant now comes with support for Arlo Security Lights, that will send you an instant alert if motion is detected. These can also be paired with Arlo security cameras.
Cameras such as Nest Cam, which can be used on the interior or exterior of your house, can also be paired with Google Assistant. Once paired, you can check the feed of these cameras 24/7 via the Assistant on the app.
With Nest Cam devices, you can also ask the Assistant to stream the live feed to a Chromecast-enabled TV. You can even talk and listen through the camera.
Lock your home from anywhere remotely
Don’t exactly remember if you locked your house doors before driving off to work or taking a flight for a vacation abroad? Well, with Smart locks you can be at peace as you can lock your door remotely from anywhere in the world.
Google Assistant is launching a new integration with the Nest x Yale Lock. This will allow you to check the status of your lock, remotely lock it or include it in a Routine.
Assistant has also been integrated with the August Smart Lock, Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt and Sesame Lock by Candy House. Now you can also share access to these locks with trusted family and friends.
You can lock the door with your voice and also get an alert when someone else locks or unlocks the door.
Alert for alarms
Google Assistant’s integration with ADT Pulse, Honeywell’s new Smart Home Security solution and Nest Secure alarm system, will notify you if anything goes wrong at your house.
When an alarm goes off, you’ll get an alert on your smartphone with information about what triggered the alarm. You can then silence the alarm remotely and call the police.
While security systems have been around for a while, smart security systems are new, and Google Assistant’s collaboration with several security brands should make life a little bit easier while you’re on the move.
