Honor 8X launched in India starting at INR 14,999: Availability, specs and features

Corroborating our earlier reports, on Tuesday, Honor 8X has been launched in India at the starting price of INR 14,999.

Keeping up with the trend, the Honor 8X will sport a bezel-less design, with thin bezels at the bottom and a small notch at the top that hosts the front camera, earpiece and sensors — making the screen-to-body ratio of 91%.

Price and availability

The Honor 8X comes in three variants that are priced as follows:

  • 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage will retail at INR 14,999
  • 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage will retail at INR 16,999
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage will retail at INR 18,999

The Honor 8X will go on sale from October 24 and will be exclusively available on Amazon as well as Honor’s own website.

Display

The Honor 8X features a 6.5-inch (1080p) borderless full-view display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The company claims that the device is only as big as a 5.5-inch phone with bezels.

The company has also worked to reduce eye strain with the eye comfort mode that reduces the blue light radiation and a night mode. It also comes with better sunlight display technology that displays content on the device more efficiently under direct sunlight and improves legibility.

The device gets a second-generation anti-glare film, nano-scale optical coating with double shade at the rear, which is made of glass. The left-hand side of the rear that has the camera lenses comes with a grainy texture while the right-hand side comes with the glossy pattern.

The Honor 8X sports an AI-powered dual camera setup on the rear that can produce images at resolutions up to 20MP. The AI can recognise 22 different categories of objects in images as well as 500 scenarios in real-time.

It also takes help from the AI engine to prevent over-exposure of backgrounds and optimise the subject to create a bokeh effect. The AI algorithms also provide four portrait modes: soft lighting, butterfly lighting, split lighting and stage lighting.

The front camera is a 16MP unit that comes with enhanced ISO and supports 4-in-1 light fusion and multi-frame image processing that help create a bokeh effect.

The latest Honor device to hit the Indian market is powered by the 12nm Kirin 710 chipset with Cortex-A73 based SoC and Mali G51 GPU.

The GPU performance on the Kirin 710 SoC has increased by 130% and the CPU single-core performance has increased by 75% when compared to the previous generation Kirin 659 chipset.

Memory and storage

The Honor 8X comes in three variants featuring 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, another with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and the highest with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Internal storage on all the three variants can be expanded up to 400GB via a microSD card.

NFC

The Honor 8X will be NFC-enabled that’ll help users to pay wirelessly via the phone using third-party apps and access other NFC features.

Battery

The Honor 8X is backed by a powerful 3750mAh battery unit.

OS and Biometrics

The device will run on the company’s own EMUI 8.2  In addition to the fingerprint sensor at the rear, Honor 8X can also be unlocked via facial recognition.
