How to add a name to birth certificate online?

In today’s digital world, many government services are moving online, including adding a name to your child’s birth certificate. This process can be convenient and saves time compared to traditional in-person methods. However, it’s important to note that online availability may vary depending on your location.

Currently, online name addition for birth certificates is not available nationwide. So, before you begin, verify if your region offers online name inclusion for birth certificates. Search online for ‘Your state birth certificate name inclusion’ or visit your area’s official government portal.

The process is similar in all the states that allow the online inclusion of a name in a birth certificate. To explain the general steps, we will explain the steps to add a name to the birth certificate in Delhi online.

This article discusses the steps to add a name to a birth certificate online on the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) websites.

How to add a name to the birth certificate in Delhi online?

In Delhi, you can conveniently add your child’s name to the birth certificate online through the respective websites of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Eligibility

  • Location: Your child’s birth must be registered within the jurisdiction of the NDMC or MCD.
  • Timeframe: Ideally, the name addition request should be submitted within 365 days of the birth date. There may be a small fee for requests exceeding this timeframe.

Add name in the birth certificate on NDMC

Points to remember:

  1. Adding a name to a birth certificate online can only be done by the parents.
  2. Verification of the mother’s/father’s Aadhar will be conducted through the Digi Locker application.
  3. Name inclusion for individuals up to 365 days old is free through this portal.
  4. For name inclusion of individuals older than 365 days, a fee of ₹10 will be charged, and the name will be added to the birth certificate only after successful payment.

If your area falls under the NDMC, then follow the steps below to add your name to the birth certificate:

  • Step 1: Visit the NDMC website for name inclusion.
  • Step 2: Search for your application. You can search it using any of the three choices on the page.
  • Step 3: Open your application and click the Select option in the Stage section.
  • Step 4: Search for your application by entering your mobile no. and click on the SMS button.
  • Step 5: Enter the required details and click on the Validate button.
  • Step 6: It will redirect you to Digilocker; log in to your Digilocker account.
  • Step 7: Fill out the required details (Child name and email ID). You will see a Submit button if you add the name within 365 days. Your application will be submitted, and the required certificate will be generated. You will see a Make Payment button if you add the name after 365 days. Click on it, make the payment, and your application will be submitted, and the required certificate will be generated.

Add name in the birth certificate on MCD

If the birth was registered with the MCD after April 1, 2021, you can conveniently add the child’s name online through the MCD website. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Visit the MCD website and click the Online Services button at the top right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Select your zone or ward or colony and click on the Search button.

Step 3: Click on the Online Service button.

Step 4: Hover over the Registration of Birth & Death (R&D) box.

Step 5: Click on the Citizen Login/ Hospital/ Cremation-Burial Ground option.

Step 6: Enter the registered mobile no. and click on the Generate OTP, enter the OTP sent on your mobile no. and click on the Login button.

Step 7: Birth search details will appear. Click on the Actions option available in the Action section. In the menu, click on the View and Download Certificate option.

Step 8: Now, Certificate Generated will appear in the Status section. Click on the Actions button again, and then in the dropdown menu, click on the Add Child Name option.

Step 9: You will only be allowed to enter the child’s name. Enter the name, scroll down, and upload the father’s/mother’s ID. After you are done, click on the Submit button.
