iPhones are known for their stable and fluid software experience. Apple has also made a name for the numerous iOS-specific services that their devices offer.
Services like Facetime and iMessage are excellent examples of how iOS exclusive services provide wonderful platforms for its users to connect in a seamless way across Apple devices, be it Macs, iPads, iPhones or even iPods.
The only drawback here is that since these services are iOS/macOS exclusives, many people miss out. Unless everyone in your circle uses at least one Apple device, you’re going to have to find alternative, more universal ways of communicating with them.
In this article, we’re talking about how you can add someone to a group text on iMessage.

Adding someone to a group text on iMessage
When adding someone to a group iMessage, you first have to consider whether or not they’re using an Apple device and are on iMessage.
If the person is using an Apple device and on iMessage
This makes the task of adding someone to a group iMessage extremely easy. Just follow these steps.
- Tap the group iMessage and then tap the group icon at the top of the head.
- Tap the info button.
- Scroll down and then tap Add Contact.
- Search for the contact you want to add and then tap Done.
If the person is using a non-Apple device
You can’t really add a non-Apple device user to an iMessage group text. For such users, you’re going to have to create a new group SMS/MMS message.
If the user in question recently migrated from iPhone to Android and is having trouble joining an SMS group chat, chances are they didn’t deactivate iMessage on their existing number. In such cases, advise them to put their SIM card back into an iPhone and deactivate iMessage for their number. Once done, you can try adding them back in an SMS/MMS group chat.
