If the person is using an Apple device and on iMessage
This makes the task of adding someone to a group iMessage extremely easy. Just follow these steps.
- Tap the group iMessage and then tap the group icon at the top of the head.
- Tap the info button.
- Scroll down and then tap Add Contact.
- Search for the contact you want to add and then tap Done.
If the person is using a non-Apple device
You can’t really add a non-Apple device user to an iMessage group text. For such users, you’re going to have to create a new group SMS/MMS message.
If the user in question recently migrated from iPhone to Android and is having trouble joining an SMS group chat, chances are they didn’t deactivate iMessage on their existing number. In such cases, advise them to put their SIM card back into an iPhone and deactivate iMessage for their number. Once done, you can try adding them back in an SMS/MMS group chat.
