Read this guide, to learn four methods you can use to know which iPad model you own.
Each of these methods revolves around the model number of your iPad. At the end of this article, you can find a list which contains model numbers for every iPad model launched, at the time of writing.

Method 1: Find out within Settings
To see which device you own via the Settings application, open the app and follow the steps listed below:
- Select General subsection.
- Tap on About and read Model Name.
You can also find model number under Model Name.

Method 2: Find out by connecting to iTunes
Download and launch iTunes on your Windows or Mac device, upon connecting your iPad you will be able to view the screen shown below which displays the model you own along with details like its Serial Number and current software version.

Method 3: Find out on the back of an iPad
If for some reason, the iPad you’re using does not turn on, you can also find out the exact model number by looking at the back of your tablet. You will find it printed near the bottom edge.

Method 4: Find out with Retail Packaging
If any of the above-listed methods do not work, grab your iPad’s retail packaging, if you still have it around. Now, flip it to view its backside; near the bottom, you will see two stickers; the first lists the name of your iPad alongside its storage configuration and the second contains its model number.
