Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms these days. The platform has been around since 2010 and has made up a significant user base over the years, changing social media from text-based status updates to photos and videos as posts.
The platform also offers several ways for its users to track their activities and keep an eye on their accounts to keep themselves safe. However, there’s a certain amount of information about each profile that’s visible to their followers as well.
In this article, we’re looking at how to see if someone has recently followed you or anyone else on Instagram.

How to tell who someone recently followed?
Currently, there’s no way to tell if someone has recently followed someone on Instagram. This used to be possible thanks to the now deprecated Activity tab on Instagram. The feature was replaced with a Shop tab back in 2019.
Unless you’re manually keeping track of a person’s followers, you can’t really tell if they recently followed someone.
Your best bet is to log in to your Instagram account through a web browser and check someone’s following as it sometimes appears in chronological order. However, there’s no telling whether that’ll work for you or not.
How to tell who recently followed you?
Now, this one’s relatively easy. Not only can you check your notifications tab to see notifications for recent follows, but your followers’ list also appears in chronological order of their following.
If you’re interested in seeing who you recently followed, you can check your Following list and sort it in chronological order. Here’s how.
- Open Instagram and head to your profile.
- Tap on the Following number on your profile.
- Tap on the sorting icon.
- You can either select Date Followed: Latest or Date Followed: Earliest to sort the list as you like.
