Google Drive is a popular online cloud storage where you can upload and access your files. Whether you use Google Drive for personal or professional purposes, you may often need to select multiple files at once to perform various actions, such as moving, deleting, downloading, or sharing them.

In this article, we will explain how to select multiple files in Google Drive using different methods. You can watch the video below or continue reading the article.

Select multiple files in Google Drive on the computer

Apart from pressing the left mouse key and dragging it to make a box across files to select them, there are two methods to select multiple files in Google Drive on a computer:

Using the Ctrl key on the computer

This is probably the best and easiest method of selecting multiple files in Google Drive. All you have to do is open the Google Drive website on your laptop or PC and press the Ctrl button while simultaneously clicking on the files.

You’ll see that the files that you have selected are shown in the blue. After selecting the files, you can perform additional functions, such as deleting or moving them to another location.

Using the Shift key

Another way to select multiple files in Google Drive is by pressing the Shift key. While using the Ctrl key, you had to select individual files by clicking on them. However, when you’re using the Shift key, you only need to select two files, and all the files in between these two files will be selected.

I wanted to select all the files between hemant.jpg and Screenshot_20200204-110513.jpg in the above screenshot. All I did was press Shift, select hemant.jpg and then click on the other file. As you can see, all the files in between the two files are now in blue, which means the files are selected.

Select all files on Google Drives

If you want to select all the files on your Google Drive, you must open the Google Drive folder and press Ctrl + A.

The above screenshot shows that all 48 files in my Google Drive are now selected.

Select multiple files in the Google Drive app

Although not as refined, there are still a few ways to select multiple files in the Google Drive app.

Long press method

When you long-press the files on the Google Drive app, you can select many files simultaneously.

Start by long-pressing one file till you see that file under a blue box. This means you can now perform additional tweaks on that file. Do the same process again for other files as well.

Select all files on Google Drive app

To choose all files on the Google Drive app, select a particular file until it is in the blue box and then click on the Select All icon at the top. A small square inside a dotted large square represents the icon.

In conclusion, you can easily apply the aforementioned methods and select multiple files in Google Drive.
