Lenovo hosted its Virtual Tech Life ’22 event on September 1 and announced a bunch of gadgets including tablet refreshes, its first 16-inch Chromebook, the third-generation ThinkBook 16p, Lenovo Glasses T1 the ThinkCentre M60q Chomebox desktop and as many as six different monitors both suited to gaming and enterprise applications.

Second-gen P11 tabs

The Lenovo Tab P11 and Tab P11 Pro have both seen incremental updates for the second generation complete with MediaTek processors, more RAM and Android 12L support with a promise for two more Android version updates and up to three years of security updates.

The tablets also support Lenovo’s Precision Pen 3 which can magnetically attach to the Tab P11 Pro for charging and storage. The P11 gets an 11.5-inch LCD display while the Pro version is decked out with an 11.2-inch OLED display with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The Pro version also gets as much as 8GB of RAM with 256GB onboard storage. As for the P11, you can get up to 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage which is expandable thanks to the dedicated memory card slot. 

The Tab P11 starts at €299 and is expected to be available in November 2022. As for the Tab P11 Pro, the price starts at €499 and the device is expected to hit the shelves in September 2022.

Lenovo’s first 16-inch Chromebook

The event also saw the announcement of the company’s first 16-inch Chromebooks. Chromebooks have finally become usable machines thanks to newer CPUs that work at a lower TDP and can still churn out enough performance to run a modern system. 

The IdeaPad 5i Chromebook from Lenovo features an Intel Core i3-1215U (or a Pentium 8505), up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of SSD storage in addition to the up to 128GB eMMC storage onboard. The display is a 16-inch 2.5K LCD with 100% sRGB support and can go up to 120Hz depending on the configuration. While Lenovo hasn’t given out the exact battery capacity, it’s claiming up to 12 hours of battery life on the Chromebook. 

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5i will start at €549 and is expected to arrive in the market later this month.

Lenovo’s new AMD-based ThinkBook

There’s also a new AMD-powered ThinkBook featuring AMD’s Ryzen 9 6000 H series processors and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3060 graphics. There are also two display options coming in at a 400 nits 60Hz panel and a 500 nit 165Hz VESA certified HDR400 panel for better detail and contrast.

Users can spec out the laptop with up to 32GB dual-channel LPDDR5 memory and up to 2TB dual SSDs. There’s a 71 Whr battery and a rather lacking port selection including two USB-C, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, one 3.5mm audio jack, an SD card reader and an HDMI port.

The ThinkBook 16p Gen 3 will be available starting €1999 and is already available in select markets.

A wearable display; Lenovo Glasses T1

Lenovo also announced a wearable display in the form of the Lenovo Glasses T1. The wearable hopes to give users a big screen experience by just wearing a pair of glasses on their faces. They work over USB-C, meaning compatibility isn’t really going to be an issue with Lenovo claiming compatibility with Windows, Android, macOS and iOS devices (with a compatible USB-C to Lightning adaptor).

The glasses feature a 1920 x 1080 micro OLED display per eye running at 60Hz. Additionally, it also has built-in speakers and TUV certifications for reduced blue light and flicker.

The Lenovo Glasses T1 however will only go on sale in China and “select other markets” in late 2022 and 2023 respectively with the price to be announced upon availability.

Six monitors and a Chromebox

Last but not least, the company also announced a new 144Hz gaming monitor alongside five other enterprise-grade displays in addition to a Chromebox, essentially a Chromebook in desktop format.

The gaming monitor — Legion Y32p-30 is a 31.5-inch WLED monitor running at 3840 x 2160 running at 144Hz and covers 99% sRGB. The monitor has two HDMI 2.1 inputs, one Display Port 1.4 input and a USB Type-C input. The ThinkVision monitor lineup saw five new announcements, all 60Hz and basically identical except for the screen size and display resolution.

Finally, there’s the ThinkCentre M60q Chromebox Enterprise desktop that’s powered by up to 12th Gen Intel Core i5 processors and comes with up to 2GB 3200MHz RAM, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and a healthy port selection including USB-C, USB-A (3.2 Gen2) and a 1 gigabit LAN Port.

The Legion Y32p-30 gaming monitor and ThinkVision T32p-30, T34p-30, S25e-30 and T32h-30 will be released in January 2023 coming in at €999, €669, €699, €169 and €549 respectively. The ThinkVision T24i-30 and ThinkCentre M60q Chromebox Enterprise will be released in December 2022 and start at €249 and €299 respectively.
