Released in 2016, Notion is an all-in-one workspace application developed by Notion Labs inc that provides components such as notes, databases,  wikis, calendars, kanban boards, and reminders and more. 

It allows users to project and manage a task easily, design repositions alongwith customising the workspace with dozens of LEGO-style building blocks.

If you’re looking to give it a try or are already using Notion, you must know its keyboard shortcuts to work more efficiently. Below we have made a list of all the Notion shortcuts that you need to know, including some popular ones and specific ones to edit and create, all of which will surely enhance your workflow.

You’ll see cmd/ctrl keys used a lot below. This indicates command on Mac, Windows and Linux. These instructions are for English/QWERTY keyboards,

@ Commands for Notion

  • Mention a person:Type @ with the name of a person or persons you wish to grab the attention of, useful during comments and discussions.  
  • Mention a page: Type @ along with the different page in the workspace to create a link. 
  • Mention a date: Type @ and date to give deadlines.
  • Add a reminder: Type @remind along with a date, and you’ll receive a notification on the day.

[[ Commands for Notion

  • Link a page: Type [[ and the name of the page you wish to link up your text too.
  • Create a sub-page: Type [[ and the name of the sub-page you want to nest within your current page. Use your cursor or arrow keys to select + Add new sub-page in the drop-down that appears.
  • Create a new page: Type [[ and the name of the page you want to create.

+ Commands for Notion 

  • Create a sub-page: Type + and the name of the sub-page you want to nest within your current page. 
  • Create a new page somewhere else: Type + and the name of the page you want to create. Use your cursor or arrow keys to select Add new page in the dropdown that appears, then select the page or database where you’d like that page to be added.
  • Link a Page: Type + and the name of another page in your workspace to create a link to it. If you change the name of the page, this link will automatically change too.

Tip: When you use [[, the dropdown menu will show page linking options first. Whereas when you use +, the dropdown menu will show page creation options first.
