The Oppo F9 and F9 Pro smartphones were released earlier this year and have gained much popularity majorly among the selfie-crazed generation.
Decently performers at the price point, the two smartphones have quite a few similarities and also vary in some aspects. Depending on your needs and, you can make a choice between which of the two smartphones you should go buy.
Processor
Both the Oppo F9 Pro and Oppo F9 are powered by 2 GHz octa-core MediaTekHelio P60 chipset. The processor has four ARM Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores that can clock speeds up to 2Ghz. The processor also has an integrated ARM-Mali -G72 GPU which greatly enhances power efficiency and supports AI processing.

Camera
The Oppo F9 Pro has a front camera of 25 megapixels while the Oppo F9 has a front camera of 16 megapixels. Both have the same dual rear camera of 16 megapixels (f/1.8) + 2 megapixels (f/2.4).
Display
The Oppo F9 series has incorporated the LTPS (Low-Temperature Poly Silicon) LCD panel that consumes very less energy. Both the Oppo F9 Pro and Oppo F9 have a 6.3-inch display screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and the aspect ratio of the smartphones is 19:5:9.
Design
Both the smartphones have similar shape and size and come in the sunrise red, twilight blue and starry purple colourways that provide a metallic finish to the phones.
They follow the ‘Waterdrop’ design wherein the notch of the phone is relatively smaller — Oppo’s own retake on the trend — than the other phones’ notches giving it a refreshed and stylish look.
The Oppo F9 phone body is made of plastic while the Oppo F9 Pro’s phone body is a metallic one. Both smartphones have a superb glass finish.
The Oppo F9 Pro also has a diamond pattern on its back panel which subtly adds to the phone’s look.
Battery
The Oppo F9 Pro and Oppo F9 both are backed by 3500 mAh battery.
The Oppo F9 Pro supports VOOC fast charging where it takes only 5 minutes to charge the phone for a 2-hour long phone call while for the Oppo F9, a 10W charger is provided in the box.

Operating System
Both the smartphones run on Android 8.1 Oreo OS with the ColorOS 5.2 skin running on top of it.
Memory and storage
Oppo F9 pro features 6 GB RAM while Oppo F9 comes with 4 GB RAM. Both the phones have an internal memory of 64 GB that can be extended to up to 256 GB via an external microSD card.
Connectivity
The connectivity options provided by the Oppo F9 and Oppo F9 are the same, which include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, Micro-USB, 3G and 4G.
Sensors
The Oppo F9 Pro supports the face unlock, fingerprint sensor, compass, proximity sensor, accelerometer and ambient light sensors. The Oppo F9 smartphone also provides all of these sensors minus the face unlock functionality.
