Pixel 6 rumour roundups: All the reveals so far

A British retailer named Carphone Warehouse accidentally went live with its Pixel 6 promo page ahead of time (October 19) and has confirmed a bunch of rumoured features and revealed several new ones as well. The pages were quickly pulled down, but Twitter leaker @evleaks managed to get a screengrab of the site.

Apart from the significant hardware improvements, leaks suggest that software improvements are coming to the device. The new Pixel will also have new features like Magic Eraser and Face Unblur.

Google’s latest generation Pixel is bringing the most significant camera upgrade ever to the Pixel lineup. With more and more leaks coming out every day, we now have more insight into what the Pixel 6 might hold.

The rumour mill getting down to the Pixel

Google is clearly leaning on Pixel 6’s overhauled hardware, especially the camera — something that has been the strongest suit of Pixel phones ever since they came out. With the significant hardware improvement and the tensor chip inside, camera performance has pretty high expectations to pass.

Apart from that, the Pixel 6 is also quite different from traditional Google phones so far. The new Pixels seem to be featuring some massive camera bumps with supposedly three cameras, larger displays, a cutout hole-punch front camera in the centre, smaller bezels and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The primary sensor is expected to be 50MP, a significant jump from the tiny 12MP sensors we’ve seen on Pixels so far. This is accompanied by a 12MP ultrawide sensor and a 48MP telephoto sensor.

The new camera features, most notably Magic Eraser and Face Unblur, will help users remove unwanted people or objects from the background and unblur blurry portraits, respectively.

The Pixel 6 shares the same physical appearance as the bigger Pixel 6 Pro but seems to have one less camera, although appearing with the same protruding camera bump. Both phones are expected to be powered by Google’s inhouse ‘Whitechapel’ SoC, a chipset said to be somewhere around the Snapdragon 870 in terms of performance.

There’s also a good chance that the Pixel 6 Pro could be the first Pixel with a curved screen and no bezels featuring a 120 Hz QHD+ OLED display with a 5000mAh battery. The Pixel 6, on the other hand, is expected to have a flat-screen, 120Hz FHD+ OLED display and a roughly 4500mAh battery.

Here is what we’re expecting the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro to have in a nutshell.
