Google’s Pixel 9 series smartphones are scheduled to launch on August 14. However, the tech industry is rife with rumours and leaks. The newly surfaced Pixel 9 leaks reveal significant upgrades in design, including new colour options and distinctive camera layouts. The leaks also outline specifications, camera systems, and the chipsets.

The leaks are courtesy of the well-known tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer, also known as OnLeaks, and 91Mobiles.

The Google Pixel 9 series introduces various display sizes to suit user needs. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro feature a 6.3-inch Actua display, offering a balanced size ideal for everyday tasks.

In contrast, the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a larger 6.8-inch Super Actua display, providing a more expansive viewing experience for those who prefer bigger screens. For users seeking versatility, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold includes a 6.3-inch Actua cover screen and an impressive 8-inch Super Actua Flex inner screen.

The Pixel 9 series will feature a variety of new colours, including dark grey, light grey, off-white (porcelain white), and pink. The devices sport a polished or glossy finish on the sides, with a soft matte black panel that offers a sleek yet comfortable grip.

A notable design change is the new camera island, which protrudes noticeably from the back panel. The Pro models are expected to feature three lenses, while the regular Pixel 9 will have two.

The camera island on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a rounded rectangle, whereas it takes on an oblong shape on the non-foldable Pixel 9. The front of these devices will include a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera and minimal surrounding bezels.

The Pixel 9 has a 10.5 MP front camera and 50 MP wide and 48 MP ultrawide rear camera lenses. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL have three rear cameras – a 50 MP main, 48 MP ultrawide, 48 MP telephoto lens, and a 42 MP front camera. As for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, it also features three rear cameras: a 48 MP main, 10.5 MP ultrawide, and 10.8 MP telephoto lens, along with a 10 MP front camera.

Regarding chipsets, all models will be powered by the company’s Tensor G4 chipset. The Pixel 9 will come up with 12 GB of RAM, while the Pro variants offer up to 16 GB of RAM. The RAM configuration is more than enough for multitasking and enhanced performance.

Google has designed the Pixel 9 series with AI at its core. The phones are engineered to integrate with Gemini AI, which will be available for free for one year.

Google guarantees seven years of security updates and Pixel Drops, software updates providing new Pixel-exclusive features. The Pixel 9 Pro XL and potentially other models will also include a 1-meter USB-C to USB-C cable (USB 2.0) in the box.
