The PS4 is one of the best consoles to ever come from Sony’s camp. You get a pretty seamless user experience with the console whether its gaming or simply multimedia.

However, that doesn’t make the PS4 invulnerable to bugs or glitches. Sony has come up with a series of error codes to help users diagnose and troubleshoot any issues they run into. In this article, we’re going over how to fix the NW-3125-4 error on the PS4.

What causes Playstation 4 error NW-31253-4?

As suggested by the ‘NW’ in the error code, this is a network issue that restricts your console’s ability to access the internet and in turn, connect to PSN servers.

The issue can be caused by a number of reasons, from issues in your connection to the PSN network being down. Let’s talk about some of the solutions to the issue.

How to solve PS4 error NW-31253-4?

Here are seven solutions you can try out to resolve this issue and get your console up and running.

Restart your router

Restarting your network devices can resolve a lot of connectivity and internet-related issues. If you’re facing the NW-3125-4 error on your console, the first thing you should do is restart your router and make sure you’ve got internet connectivity.

Restart your console

Building on the previous point, you can also try restarting your console in conjunction with your router. Restarting devices can fix a lot of seemingly random issues, including any networking or connectivity issues you might be facing.

Use Ethernet

If you haven’t already, try using ethernet instead of WiFi to connect your console to the internet. Not only using a wired connection will give you the best possible speeds and stability, but it’ll also rule out any WiFi issues that you might be facing in your connection.

Try updating DNS settings

If you’re using custom DNS settings, there’s a chance that they might be interfering with internet connectivity on your PS4. Try setting the DNS on your console to automatic or use any other public DNS provider to fix the PS4 NW-3125-4 error.

Check your NAT Type and ports

The PS4 needs certain communication ports to be opened on your router to be able to effectively communicate with the PSN servers and hence be able to play games.

Make sure you’ve allowed these ports in the router settings and that your NAT Type on the PS4 allows for smooth, unrestricted connection between the console and the servers.

Sony recommends the following ports be open on your router.

  • TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480
  • UDP: 3478, 3479

Restting your PS4

If all else fails you can try resetting your PS4 to factory settings. This is by far the most drastic and the most effective solution when it comes to resolving just about any issue with the console, including the NW-3125-4 error.

Do keep in mind that resetting the PS4 will remove any data you have stored locally on the console, including game saves. Any data saved in the cloud won’t be affected.
