How to post on Reddit?
There are ways to post on Reddit — on the computer and using the Reddit app.
On the website via a PC
To post on Reddit using a computer, follow the steps given below.
- Open the Reddit account.
- On the top right, click on the inverted pen button located at the left on the profile picture. (Look at the screenshot above to get an idea).
- Now, click on Choose a community option to select the community where you want to post.
- After you have selected the community, enter the title of your post in the Title box.
- Now, enter some text to explain your post or give an idea to the readers what your post will be like. (This step is optional).
- After you have entered the text, choose a tag for your post. For example, if you post contains some NFSW element, you can choose NFSW. Or, select spoilers tag if you are planning to post spoilers of a TV series or a book.
- Once you are through with the above steps, click on POST option at the bottom right of the screen. (As is shown in the screenshot).
As you can see from the above post, Hello Reddit is the post title. Also, notice that you have to click on the POST button once you have uploaded the picture as we have done here.
Note: If you want to write in a post, select the Post option from the top. Similarly, if you want to send a link, select the Link option.
Using the Reddit app
If you want to post from the Reddit app, follow the instructions given below.
- Open the Reddit app.
- Tap on the inverted pen icon at the bottom middle of the screen.
- Select the nature of the post — whether you want to post Link, Video, Text or Image.
- Select the community where you want to share your thoughts. In the above screenshot, we have posted on r/technology community. You can change the community by clicking on this option.
- Write the post and then tap on the POST option at the top right of the screen.

How to delete a post in Reddit?
In case you want to delete the post on Reddit, there are two ways to do so — on the computer and from the app. We will explain to you both the methods in detail.
On the website using a PC
If you want to delete the post on a computer, follow the steps given below.
- Click on the three horizontal dots at the bottom of the post. (Check the screenshot above to get an idea).
- Now, click on the Delete option on the drop-down menu.
- Confirm the process by selecting the DELETE POST option.
- Your post will be deleted, and Post deleted successfully message will be shown on the screen.
Using the Reddit app
To delete the post using the Reddit app, follow the instructions given below.
- Open the Reddit app.
- Select the post that you want to delete.
- Now, tap on the three vertical dots at the top right of the screen.
- Tap on the Delete option from the drop-down menu.
- Confirm the process by tapping again on the DELETE option in red.
Your post will be deleted. You can refresh the homepage to see the changes if you don’t already.
Tips and tricks to make your posts better on Reddit
Posting on Reddit can be a fun experience. It can also earn you awards and karma which in turn can increase your authority on the platform.
However, like all social media platforms, you will receive criticism for your post, competition from your fellow Redditors, or some posts will face indifference from the community.
In this section, we’ll provide you with some tips and tricks to help you to post better:
- Research your audience: Each subreddit on Reddit has its audience and topics. Before publishing your content on any subreddit, first do audience research and also keep a tab on the overall mood of the subreddit. For example, do people post jokes or GIFs on the subreddit, or is it mainly for serious discussions? Some subreddits are less managed, meaning people can post politically incorrect stuff. However, on other subreddits, there is more control over the posts.
- Show originality and creativity: Original and creative posts greatly earn you better appreciation on Reddit. It is also a platform to showcase your skills and increase your business.
- Be clear and concise: A clear and concise post detailing all about the topics and subreddit rules will be more engaging than some random stuff about random events. You can use bold, italics or underlining to increase the appeal of the post further. Similarly, you can use bullet points, subheadings, and occasional jokes to engage the audience.
- Be respectful: We all have different belief systems, and respecting others’ beliefs on social media platforms like Reddit is important. If there’s a debate, keep your points respectfully and politely. Use this platform to earn and increase your knowledge, not to belittle others.
