With the increase in the popularity of remote working or work-from-home globally, tools like Slack are getting ahead of the curve and booming as demand grows. The cloud-based team collaboration service boasts of 1500 apps and integrations with companies like Salesforce, Atlassian, Google, among several others.
If the work of one of your team members is leaving the business or was just meant to be a guest addition, and you wish to restrict their access to your Slack Workplace or if you think you invited the wrong person to your Slack Workplace, you can deactivate their account via Settings.
In this article, we explain how to remove someone from your Slack Workplace in two simple steps.

Deleting someone from Slack Workplace
Log in to your Slack Workplace on PC and follow the steps below to remove someone from your Slack Workplace.
Step 1: Tap on either your or the Slack Workplace’s name at the top-left corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear. Click on Administration and then Manage members from the list that appears to the right. (You’ll see a few more options in this menu after the latest Slack update).Step 2: On the next page, you’ll see a list of the members on your Slack Workplace. Scroll down to the name of the member you wish to remove from your Slack Workplace and click on the horizontal triple-dot menu icon to the extreme right of their name. From the drop-down menu, click on Deactivate account.
The member will be removed from your Slack Workplace, but you’ll still have access to the past messages and files shared by the person you just removed. However, the number of messages that’ll be available entirely depends on whether your Slack workplace is free or paid.
You can also reactivate the member’s profile on your Slack channel at a later point either as a full member or a guest account.
