How to find router’s IP address?

Finding your router’s IP address is easy and usually does not require much technical knowledge.

Imagine an IP address as a digital tag for devices. It helps online data packets find their destination. Now, when it comes to your network, think of a default gateway IP address as the entry gate. This IP address is usually tied to your router, which is like the front door to your WiFi. You might also hear it called a private IP address.

Find the router’s IP address in Windows

You can use the command prompt or the control panel in Windows.

Using the command prompt

The command prompt provides users with a direct line of communication with a computer’s operating system.

Just search ‘cmd’ in the search bar and then click on it to open the command prompt. Here, type ipconfig and hit Enter.

You can see your router’s IP address next to Default Gateway.

Using the Control Panel

Another method to find the router’s IP address is using the Control Panel in Windows.

Step 1: Open Control Panel and click on View network status and tasks under the Network and Internet heading.

Step 2: Next, click on your WiFi connection and then click on Details when a new window pops up.

In the Details sub-window, you can access the IP address in front of the IPv4 Default Gateway.

Find the router’s IP address in Android

To do this in Android, follow the steps given below:

  • Head to Settings > Network and Internet> Internet on your Android device.
  • Next, click on the WiFi and scroll down to see the IP address under the Gateway heading.

You can also download third-party applications like WiFi Analyzer to perform similar actions.

Find the router’s IP address in iPhone

Here are the steps:

  • Open Settings and then head to WiFi.
  • Here, select the WiFi that you are currently connected to.
  • Look for your router’s IP address under the sub-section Router.

Find the router’s IP address in Macbook

Follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Click on the Apple icon at the top left of your screen and then select System Settings.

Step 2: Select WiFi to see all the wireless networks. Select a network and then click on Details.

Step 3: Select the TCP/IP tab and you should see the router’s IP address under Router.

Easy right? By following the steps mentioned above, you can easily find your router’s IP address on various devices.
